Kishorn Port Ltd
Situated on the Northwest coast of Scotland, Kishorn Port Ltd (KPL) provide exemplary facilities with one of Europe’s largest dry docks, lending itself to the maritime and offshore energy sectors. KPL has a Waste Management Licence, EU Ship Recycling Licence and a NORM Permit, making our contained facility the ideal site for recycling vessels, floating assets, and offshore oil & gas structures.
KPL has commenced the expansion of its dry dock to accommodate vessels of up to 260 metres in length and reclaim 9 hectares of foreshore ground. Once complete, the development will significantly increase capacity for decommissioning; renewable energy manufacturing; oil & gas inspection, maintenance, and repair; aquaculture support; and port and marine services. The project will provide over 20 hectares of laydown and hardstanding area within a total 45-hectare operational footprint.
Towards the end of 2023 going into 2024, Kishorn Port Ltd secured the contract for the decommissioning and recycling of the semi-submersible Northern Producer FPF, a first not only for the company but for Western Europe. Working with Liberty Industrial, the rig was stripped of hazardous materials, NORM, and fittings, before being blown down to half its height with strategically placed explosives. This allowed teams of demolition equipment to downsize the rig, shearing the steel to more manageable sizes for loading onto vessels to transport to foundries.
