The National Decommissioning Centre

The National Decommissioning Centre (NDC) is a world-class research and development (R&D) facility that is working in partnership with industry, government and national and international research organisations to deliver high-impact, inter-disciplinary R&D. This will help to transform the decommissioning sector and enable a truly sustainable energy transition to net zero.

By delivering project results that provide industry with Smarter, Cleaner, Safer and Cheaper solutions, this multi-million collaborative partnership between the University of Aberdeen, the OGTC and industry, addresses key challenges for the energy sector in decommissioning and late life management. The NDC’s dedicated laser, computer and testing facilities support global projects and the Centre’s investment in a state of the art simulator will allow the NDC to work with its partners to de-risk decommissioning and late life operations, trial new technologies, assess the benefits of scope aggregation, and to scenario plan for the re-use of assets and energy integration.
