A global leader in research and development (R&D), the NDC works with the energy sector to reduce costs and emissions, improve environmental outcomes, develop sustainable decommissioning approaches and support the energy transition.

Working across the oil and gas, nuclear and renewables sectors, the NDC continues to add value and create competitive advantage by aligning industry demand with academic capability and skills. The centre builds on the University of Aberdeen’s expertise in decommissioning technologies, predictive modelling, environmental assessment and the economic, regulatory and societal aspects of decommissioning.

Through collaboration with industry, government and academia, the NDC has continued to support the North East of Scotland as a globally recognised hub for sustainable decommissioning innovation and energy transition leadership.
