This session will see OEUK launch a decommissioning work breakdown structure animation. Earlier in 2023 the decommissioning community voted for two focus areas to be showcased at the conference, attendees will hear project shorts from supply chain member companies focussing on well decommissioning and onshore disposal.

Walter Thain
Chief Executive Officer
THREE60 Energy

Walter is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of THREE60 Energy Group. As a senior leader with three decades of experience in the energy industry, he leads the strategic growth of the group’s four service lines spanning subsurface, wells, engineering & construction and operations across the UK, Norway and South East Asia.

His proven leadership skills, passion for safe delivery, innovation, and dedication to addressing industry needs, has seen the group deliver a flexible, value-driven service to a growing global customer base since its inception.

This has seen the group support some of the most complex, challenging and important projects in the energy sector under Walter’s leadership, from late life operations to decommissioning, with a continual focus on differentiated contractual models that ultimately lower abandonment costs. In addition, the group is actively delivering low carbon solutions to support a net zero economy mainly in wind, CCS and geothermal.

He has significant experience both in the UK and International markets and has previously served as a director on the Oil & Gas UK (now OEUK) board, as well as Chairman of the Oil & Gas UK efficiency task force and is now currently Chairman of the OEUK Decommissioning Forum Steering Committee.


Matt Jenkins
Chief Operating Officer
Well-Safe Solutions

Matt is Chief Operating Officer for Well-Safe Solutions and is accountable for Asset operations, Engineering, HSE and Logistics across the business. Having been part of the launch of Well-Safe Solutions, Matt joined Well-Safe from ConocoPhillips where he led UK P&A Engineering and Strategy. Matt has a background in Well Engineering and Operations having held varied roles throughout the Central and Southern North Sea, including HPHT and Subsea campaigns. With 20 years’ experience, Matt has built and led teams to achieve complex outcomes across operations, engineering, logistics and technical safety.

Matt has a master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University and is a Chartered Engineer with the IMechE. Matt sits on multiple industry committees and work groups and is at the forefront of Decommissioning in the UK North Sea.


Thijs Starink
General Manager
Nexstep

Thijs Starink is General Manager of Nexstep, the national platform for reuse or decommissioning of oil and gas infrastructure in The Netherlands. He is also parttime active as Senior Advisor Dutch Oil & Gas for EBN, where he has worked since 2006 in a variety of non-operated venture management roles.

Nexstep was initiated by EBN and the Dutch O&G industry (through Element NL) in 2017. The platform focuses on effective decommissioning of E&P infrastructure. The aim is to reduce (social) costs through intensive cooperation between the oil companies during decommissioning. In addition, Nexstep aims to maintain infrastructure that can play a role in the energy transition. Nexstep engages actively with key stakeholders like the government and the O&G supply chain.

Mr. Starink started his career at Allseas in project and commercial management for offshore pipeline installation. He holds a masters degree in Civil Engineering from Technical University Delft.


Kieran Morton
Business Development Manager
Port of Aberdeen

Kieran is an established industry professional with near 20 years’ experience over multiple sectors. His role at Port of Aberdeen involves driving the organisations growth across its diverse client base, including developing to support new industry sectors such as offshore wind and Decommissioning.

Prior to his current role at Port of Aberdeen, Kieran held several roles for major international service companies including Stork and EnerMech, beginning with roles in Engineering before transitioning to Operations Management and latterly Business Development. Kieran has been involved in major projects internationally across Oil & Gas (both upstream & downstream), Nuclear, Decommissioning, Petrochemical, Renewables and Defence.

Port of Aberdeen's newly opened South Harbour offers a step change in decommissioning possibilities in the North East of Scotland and Kieran's experience in decommissioning will help deliver the Port of Aberdeen's ambition to be a leader in the decommissioning facility sector.


Kris Frampton
Sales Manager – Europe
Cetco

Having been involved in providing Decom services for over a decade with CETCO Energy Services, Kris has nearly 15 years in the oil and gas industry and is currently Sales Manager for Europe (And beyond).

 


Graeme Fergusson
Commercial Director

AF Offshore Decom

Graeme Fergusson has been in involved in upstream oil & gas for 20 years and is now the Commercial Director for AF Offshore Decom, having joined them in early 2022. Prior to this he has worked in numerous senior Finance and Commercial roles, largely on the operator side of the fence where he spent many years with BP and latterly, Fairfield Energy. It was here that he first met the decommissioning challenge, having seen the Greater Dunlin Area from an abrupt CoP in 2015 to its near end state.  Graeme firmly believes in the development of the decommissioning industry in its own right, both here in the UK and the broader opportunity around the world to export our knowledge, and is committed to continuing to push the boundaries of the decommissioning market to create value in decom.
